Bakery bank
Bakery bank
Located on the 1F of the BANK complex in Nihombashi Kabutocho, Bakery bank offers crisp-bottomed salted butter rolls, flaky croissants, mentaiko baguettes, and more.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Pick up one of the golden-brown shiopan (salted butter rolls) and you are met with a crisp crunch on the bottom, followed by the deep, melting richness of fermented butter and a clean prick of salt. Housed on the 1F of the BANK complex in Nihombashi Kabutocho, Bakery bank turns browsing the glass cases into a pleasure in its own right.
Catching the eye on the bakery shelves are the croissants, shaped with delicate laminations that yield a crackling, crisp exterior around a tender interior. For something sweet, the kouign-amann is a standout, featuring a caramelized crust that delivers an appealing contrast of crunch and caramel sweetness. Light, flaky scones with mille-feuille-like layers and soft doughnuts also offer satisfying choices when teatime rolls around.
When looking for something more filling, the mentaiko France and mentaiko shirasu France—chewy baguettes laden with rich spicy cod roe spread or paired with tiny whitebait—are hard to pass up. The savory selection also includes crisp, deep-fried keema curry bread, aromatic focaccia topped with herbs and tomatoes, and generously stuffed sandwiches, making it well suited for lunch.
Set inside a former bank building, the space retains exposed concrete and a grounded, historic presence that lends a distinct calm to a walk through Kabutocho. Seating is provided indoors and on the terrace, though many guests drop by for takeaway. Transactions are cashless only, so having a card or mobile payment ready makes checkout effortless. Opening at 8:00, the bakery fits naturally into an early-morning breakfast stop or a leisurely stroll around Kabutocho.
